Another superb Vibemail — these really do brighten my somewhat bleak life.
I hadn’t got in touch about this before in case it wasn’t appropriate, but I too heard the Colin interview and thought it was beautiful in its general vibe of openness, emotional intelligence and compassion. Well done. Both my dad and step dad were/are alcoholics and a very dear friend drank himself to death a couple of years ago so I wasn’t sure if I’d want to listen, but I was so glad I did. All power to you, John.
Lastly, since the first lockdown I’ve been feeding a family of foxes. The vixen appeared heavily pregnant and seriously ill with mange early in 2020. I managed to cure her using a treatment a local charity gave me to feed her, and have since been visited by three years’ worth of subsequent cubs.
Yesterday I found a whole, raw chicken egg buried in a plant pot. There’s a neighbour who keeps hens and they are safely cooped up at night, but I’m guessing she’d found an undiscovered egg in their garden and buried it; they do this, apparently. Finding it was honestly magical.
UPDATE!: magpies watch squirrels hide nuts and then dig them up and steal them! Have just seen this happen!

HC has taken a bit of a bashing due to sporadic golf and now sits at an achievable 14.1
In terms of PBs I'm afraid they're very low as my lower back just won't accept the loads that my remarkable physique is capable of. So I go for multiple reps of lighter weights. These are all 3RM: Deadlift 110kg, Bench 55kg, Squat 76kg.
The "...midnight with..." thing, John, made me crumble-we are so 🤯🤯. Am TRYING so hard to to find my "thing". I have loads o "things" but apparently I need A THING 😩.
Those Delinquent Blackbirds were probably winter visitors from Northern Europe. They will have got on their Scandinavian equivalent of a Vespa back to their homeland by now.
I went sober 13 months ago after 30+ years, so it's strengthening to hear about your own experience with it. Thank you for sharing.

that's so nice! Though don't rule out the buried egg as the result of local Welsh folk trying to break a spell / ward off chilblains
