Great honest post John, I’ve just looked at my bed and wanted to crawl back under the covers , work is so slow so that brings up feelings of anxiety and glumness.
Really looking forward to How Do You Cope it’s a great podcast, loving the pink it really suits you☺️
John thank you as always, for your honest post. I am hoping the grey afternoons of this month will soon be forgotten and Spring will bring some light to your lump. I can highly recommend The Glucose Goddess for info on dodging the glucose spiral with a humble glass of diluted apple cider vinegar, some crunchy veg and a post lunch stroll. I also find the Tai Chi class 1pm Monday's in Coles Hill nr Amersham amazing for a post lunch boost. (https://www.facebook.com/TaiChiInTheChilterns/?locale=en_GB) I promise I will pretend not to recognise you if you come and nobody else will because they are all wise elders, who are way too zen for Britains youngest and most edgy broadcaster.
Sorry you're feeling lumpy. Hope you find a solution soon. I'm going through chemo at the moment and some days are very lumpy. But you and Elis always make me smile, even during the darkest times. It's a rare gift John, and I thank you for it.
Three pieces of good news in one vibemail…crikey. Return of the pod! Hurrah! Writing a book! Double hurrah! Leaving Twitter! Biggest hurrah! (as doing so will, I am certain, contribute to banishing the glums). So looking forward to seeing you in Newcastle in October, and thanks to your courteous prompting I will also be crossing paths with the Lovely Lou. Love you bye!
Hdyc always felt like your birth child John and I'm proud this little soldier is continuing to create more eps.
I'm just wondering if a kind of somatic movement thing would help after lunch? I've seen a lot of it on socials. You know the one where you spin your arms around and whack yourself!?
I had a super traumatic year being given a cancer diagnosis that seemed terminal then wasn't, but one I'll never be able to say is in remission. I now generally skip happily through life with renewed appreciation but still have dark moments at night and a sort of ptsd vibe as I'm about to fall asleep. I'm working on my adrenals with the naturopath (another way you could go?) And with acupuncture (also fab) but I see people saying those movements just before bed are amazing for letting go of sadness. Maybe there's a form for after lunch blues? It's more vigorous than yoga. Best of wishes to one of my top Johns.
Hope you take the time to decompress and get rejuvenated. Sometimes, doing these things, such as lounging in bed, is what we need to boost stamina, despite it possibly leaving you feeling temporarily fatigued. What you do requires a great deal of strenuous energy.
For me, doing a lot of medium-intensity power-walking over the years has helped me a great deal not only in getting into shape and maintaining a good weight but also clearing my head. I try to multitask by reading a good book on Neuropsychology or Psychology history, or just listening to some jams 🎶. Also, various digital art projects. Maybe it could be something you might want to try.
Not long ago losing my dad from Brain cancer, day-to-day stressors, corporate buying out our apartment flat/complex and raising rent by $600, and my place of employment closing down, your "John and Elis Podcast" really helped me, along with working out and personal art projects, re-channel my focus shifting away from cognitive distortions, like Catastrophizing, to more constructive avocations.
Thank you, and I am glad to see others who face similar stressors also find comfort in your work. 💙💙
You might not feel it, but you are a ray of sunshine to many. Having been a massive 'slumper' in the past, I do recommend a couple of weeks using a CGM. It completely changed my understanding of how I was eating & what it did to my MH. Keep on keeping on JR (I can't help it but I always think 'Ewing or Hartley' when I read/hear that! 🙄🫣)
John its no wonder you are drained. You give energy to thousands . It’s a rare and amazing gift. You can’t imagine how you have lifted me many times.

You’re a wonderful chap, Johnny JR! x

I know you don’t like them but a dog would be the answer to all your stress.
Cannot wait for the podcast and you do look lovely in that pink!

Always wonderful to receive these in my inbox. Best wishes to you all x
Beloved JJR, there is so much love & gratitude for you, I wish it was enough to power your tricky little engine!
My small contribution today is I also stopped saying “I must” and finally did, delete Twitter and will never ever ever go back. Little wins xx
God, you look lush in pink. Or any other colour! Or no colour!
Pretty in pink 🩷🩷

Perhaps the fact that I’ve just picked up 2 tickets at Reading will get you up and at it! Thanks for all the great content!!!
